Last updated: 2026. This policy explains how Socialite ("we") collects, uses, and protects your information.

Face / Identity Verification Data

When you choose to verify your profile, Socialite captures a one-time selfie and uses it solely to confirm that you are a real, live person and that you match the photos on your own profile. This optional check helps prevent fake and impersonation accounts and keep our community safe.

What we collect. A single selfie image, captured only when you initiate verification. We do not create or store facial templates, faceprints, or facial-geometry data.

How we use it. The selfie is used only to (1) confirm a single, live human face is present and (2) compare it against your own uploaded profile photos. It is never used for advertising, for identifying you to other users, for building any database, or for training any models.

Sharing and processing. The selfie is transmitted over an encrypted connection to our backend (Google Firebase) and processed by Amazon Web Services' Amazon Rekognition face-comparison service solely to perform this one-time match. It is not shared with any other third parties.

Storage and retention. The selfie is not stored or retained. It is processed in memory during a single request and deleted immediately after the comparison completes. We retain only the result of the check (verified or not) and a reference to which of your existing profile photos were compared. No biometric data persists after verification.
